Lean on Me

I noticed many 'new things' in the teaching profession in this story. It gives a new dimension for me as a future teacher towards this profession. Firstly, teachers need to be creative. We, as teachers have to find other ways in teaching other than 'chalk and talk' strategy to get the students' attention. The teacher in the story applied the multiple intelligences such as kinesthetic and spatial when teaching. He made the students to do some movements rather than to just sit down and listen to what the teacher is teaching. It is interesting to see the students move around while they are learning. Secondly, not every students are the same. So, teachers should have the hope towards them. Everyone of them has the potential to be a good student, just they should be guided in order to build their personality. We can see the example in the movie whereby the teacher uses a different approach to get the students back into their co-business which is to study. he students were forced to clean up their school and they had a meeting with the principal to clear things up. This should be followed by all teachers as students should not be punished only but they need guidance to lead them in their life. Thirdly, the principal in the story accepted a new version of school song which is more interesting than the previous one. As teachers, we have to perceive things differently as students might get bored going on the same process everyday. Sometimes, they need something 'fresh' which is more suitable for them as the growing ups. They have the rights to protest and teachers should be open-minded with the students when they suggest something because sometimes it helps in their development in studies.
